Introducing the Global Search for Sustainable Schools!

What is the Search?

The Global Search for Sustainable Schools is an exciting new project being run under the Sustainable Lifestyles and Education (SLE) Programme, part of the One Planet Network for the implementation of the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns (10YFP). Nine countries across the world are coming together to run national competitions that will ask students to submit plans for making their schools sustainable. The winning schools will be given grants to implement their ideas from the beginning of 2020, turning their dreams into reality with the support of experts from their country and around the world.

Which countries are involved?

The nine countries are Brazil, Cambodia, Kyrgyz Republic, Namibia, Philippines, South Africa, Suriname, Uganda, and Viet Nam. They have been split into three regions – Africa, Asia Pacific, and Latin America and the Caribbean.

How are the schools selected?

The selection criteria differs from country to country, but the global criteria on which they are based can be found in our global criteria page.

How can I get involved?

If you are in one of the implementing countries, details of the national competition can be found on the country pages. If you are not in one of the countries, but would like the Search to be expanded to your country in future years, please show your support by liking our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages.
